Organizations using grinding machines must regularly check the operating speed of their grinders to ensure that the machine speed does not exceed the safe operating speed of a grinding wheel or the design speed of the machine (e.g. a machine designed and guarded for 6,500 SFPM should not be altered to operate at 8,500 SFPM). Excessive operating speed is one of the major causes of grinding breakages.
