Weld grinding is the grinding of welds using a depressed center on a portable grinding machine. Notching uses raised hub or depressed center wheels to where the grinding is done on the edge of the wheel. Notching most often refers to the removal of unwanted material remaining from the inlet and outlet locations on a casting.
